Amazing Snacks for Your Earth Day Celebration
Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd, and we all have our own unique ways of celebrating the holiday. Some people might like to go out and dedicate their day to cleaning up the environment or keep the television off for an entire day to lower pollution. Then there are the people that like to stay indoors and make special Earth Day food items. Here is a list of some Earth Day recipes to try out:
Kiwi and Blueberry Globe
For this recipe, you will need a round plate, Kiwis, blueberries, bananas and an image of the globe handy. Spread out the blueberries around the outside of the plate to resemble oceans. Then cut up the kiwi to resemble the continents (however many you can fit on the plate). Lastly, cut up a few bananas for the poles.
Earth Day Cookies
There are two ways to make these cookies. You can make your own cookie dough and add the food coloring or take dough from a box mix and add food coloring. The easiest way to make these cookies is to buy some box mix and add green and food coloring to the dough. Then roll up the combined dough into little balls. Once that step is done proceed to cook the cookie dough at the temperature the box recommends.
Earth Day Waffles
Just like cookies, you can make waffles using a box mix or your own homemade version. Split up the batter into two bowls. There will be blue food coloring in one bowl and green food coloring in the other. Then spray your waffle iron with non-stick spray and pour that batter on the iron using the layout that you please. It is best to keep it on a lower heat setting to avoid losing some of that “earthy” color.
Earth Day Popcorn
For this recipe, you will need about 12 cups of popcorn (depending on how many people with be eating some), a 0ne-third stick of butter, one-half corn syrup, one cup of sugar and one Kool-Aid package. First place the syrup, sugar, and butter into a pan and stir over low heat until butter is melted. Then turn up the heat until the solution reaches a boil. Stir for about five minutes. Finally, add Kool-Aid and backing soda to the solution. The last step is to pour it over the popcorn.
As you can see, there are many ways to celebrate Earth Day. It is never too early to start making Earth Day plans.
